Velvet Armenian-Style Vagas

TAILORING FEATURES >>>

• an Armenian-style collar (vagas) consists of a stiff velvet collar and a cotton/satin auxiliary cloth sewn together
• a stiff upstanding collar (approx. dimensions: 18"-wide and 4 5/7"-high) hand-tailored in polyester velvet fabric in the color of your choice
• a 28 3/4"-long auxiliary cloth tailored in the fabric of your choice
• two ribbons which allow the collar to be worn by crossing the ribbons in front and then tying them on the back
• decorated with three appliques in your choice (one larger cross/icon in the center and two smaller crosses around)
• all crosses/icons are appliques, which are machine-embroidered with golden-metallic/silvery-metallic threads and hand-decorated with beads
• trimmed with golden/silvery galloon

To clean the vagas: dry-cleaning recommended; all embroidered appliques must be removed prior to cleaning.

The Armenian-style vargas features a stiff wide collar that matches the cape in fabric and color. A long linen piece and ribbons allow the collar to be worn by crossing the ribbons to the front and then tying them in back. It has come to symbolize obedience and the yoke of Christ. From Matthew 11:29-30: "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
