This cassock is a floor-length long garment, with close-fitting sleeves worn by priests, deacons, and monastics as their regular outer wear. In the Greek tradition, however, chanters may wear it in church, usually with no inner cassock beneath but directly over secular clothing. The outer cassock symbolizes the expiration of a clergyman in this world, and his burial and subsequent dedication to God and the Heavenly Kingdom.
